Waugh - Mt. Pleasant Cemetery (Buckskin Township, Ross County) Ohio Located on the west side of Waugh Road, one-half mile north of SR 138 (approximately six miles northeast of Greenfield, Ohio). By 1800, brothers Joseph and Leaman Waugh had located in the general area where the cemetery is now located. A methodist Episcopal church was organized in 1810 at the home of Joseph Waugh and was known as Waugh Chapel. A log church erected on Joseph Waugh's farm later replaced the frame church, and in 1878, with a brick building whose ruins are a short distance south of the cemetery. In 1880, the congregation included about 200 members. The cemetery is known by the several names which the church had over the years. It is no longer in use. |
